Clinical InformaticsClinical Informatics is the practice of promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings to improve patient care. The Clinical Informatics team within KP SCAL Patient Care Services consists of the Regional Clinical Systems and Operations Integration (CSOI) Team and the Clinical Informatics Specialists (CIS) Peer Group. The CSOI team is a regional team that consists of registered nurses in the role of Clinical Informatics Specialist. The CSOI team specializes in integrating nursing science with information management and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice. The CSOI team support nurses, patients, the inter-professional healthcare team, leadership, and other stakeholders in their decision-making through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology within KP. Its mission is to act as a regional advocate to identify and spread solutions and successful practices for KP HealthConnect technical systems and operational workflows in the delivery of extraordinary care at KP Southern CA hospitals. The Southern California CIS Peer Group consists of CIS representatives from each medical center. It provides strategic leadership for the medical centers to assist in improving patient care by cultivating a technology based work environment in primary support of Nursing. The CIS Peer Group holds itself accountable to improve the safety and quality of our patient care, contribute to the financial success of KP, improve the work experience of our multidiscipline teams as outlined by the National Program Office, the Regional Patient Care Services and the goals assigned by them in the Big Dots Dashboard, the Line of Sight Goals and the individual objectives of the CIS Peer Group.
