Clinical Nursing Orientation It's exciting to welcome new nursing staff to Kaiser Permanente. During the clinical nursing orientation, we ask nurses why they chose to work here. We often hear new staff say they have received care at a Kaiser Permanente clinic and liked the high quality of care. And, many say a friend who works here recommended they apply. During orientation, you'll not only learn about nursing and clinical care at Kaiser Permanente, you'll learn about the organization, our values, and our emphasis on the continuum of care.
Residency for New Grads and Newly Licensed RNs We believe new graduates and newly licensed RNs can succeed in ambulatory care. In 2011, we launched a RN residency pilot to test our ability to on board new graduates in an ambulatory setting. Not only was it successful, the grads taught our seasoned nursing staff at least as much as we taught them. After a successful pilot, the residency has continued to be offered every year.
Clinical Nursing Leadership Program At Kaiser Permanente, we think developing our nurses' leadership effectiveness is as important as developing their clinical effectiveness. Our Clinical Nursing Leadership (CNL) program supports frontline RNs by strengthening their leadership skills so they can lead patient care teams, quality and safety activities, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Each year, selected RNs from all areas of practice meet with the CNL team so they can learn from each other and from nurse leaders across the enterprise. Given the constant change in health care delivery, and a clear need to support safety, quality, and patient-centered care, nurses are key partners in all aspects of care. Their work contributes daily to the organizational goals of quality, affordability, and safety.
