Professional growth and development through education is a priority for the Professional Development team.
Our Clinical Educators help to guide the planning and delivery of educational activities to our clinical support staff. These activities range from performing initial, annual, and focused competencies, to defining core and specialty specific competency assessments. We promote web-based training approaches that support evidence based practices, and also customize staff requested educational in-service programs.
Our goal is to ensure that KPGA nurses have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide excellent, evidence-based nursing care to our patients. Nurses have a professional responsibility to maintain clinical competence and should take an active role in accomplishing on-going competency validation. Further information regarding clinical competencies can be obtained from your Supervisor, Manager or Clinical Educator. Links to additional resources and information are provided below.

Professional nursing organizations offer many benefits including continuing education, networking, certification, career assistance, and web sites packed with updated nursing information in your area of interest.
They help you to remain current in your field or specialty through newsletters, journals, continuing education and conventions. Nursing organizations also serve as a forum for updates/changes in local and national legislation and health care policy that affects nursing care delivery. Membership allows you to develop contacts and relationships with other nurses who practice within your specialty; and many organizations offer discounts on conventions, nursing products, certification fees, and additional services offered to their members.
