Southern California Nursing Research/Evidence-Based Practice

Delivering the best possible care is essential-to our careers and to our practice. And research provides us with the most objective means of determining how to improve the quality of that care and service.

At Southern California Kaiser Permanente, we practice evidence-based care. Therefore all research - whether conducted internally or in our industry at large - is paramount to heightening the care we deliver. As a nurse at Kaiser Permanente, we encourage you to participate in research initiatives that give you the opportunity to voice your ideas and shape the future of nursing at Kaiser Permanente.

Nursing Research is a rigorous and systematic process to generate new nursing knowledge for translation into meaningful evidence which can directly and/or indirectly transform nursing practice and patient/family outcomes.

  • Nursing research involves the participation of nurses in the design, analysis, and/or implementation of research impacting nursing practice
  • The systematic process seeks to identify, describe, predict, implement, and evaluate nursing practice and patient/family outcomes
  • Nursing knowledge includes clinical practice, education, and administration
