2020 National Nursing Excellence Awards

This Kaiser Permanente National Nursing Excellence Award program is designed to recognize and honor Kaiser Permanente nurses who demonstrate excellence, align their work with the Kaiser Permanente Professional Practice Model and embrace the KP Nursing Values. As Kaiser Permanente nurses, we boldly transform care and define nursing for the nation. It is imperative that we embrace our professional practice and keep the Kaiser Permanente Nursing vision and values in front of us in everything we do and in every encounter we have with each other, our patients, our members and their families.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Extraordinary Nurse Award
This award recognizes a Registered Nurse who exemplifies the Kaiser Permanente Nursing Vision of advancing the delivery of excellent compassionate care for our members and boldly transforming care to improve the health of our communities and nation. This RN consistently displays behaviors supporting all six of the KP Nursing Values: Professionalism, Integrity, Patient and Family-Centric Care, Compassion, Teamwork and Excellence.

Excellence in Nursing Leadership
This award recognizes a Registered Nurse in a formal leadership position at Kaiser Permanente (i.e. manager, director, CNE, Quality Leader, Medical Group Administrator, etc) who has consistently demonstrated outstanding nursing leadership. To be eligible for this award, the individual must have been in a leadership role at Kaiser Permanente for a minimum of 2 years.

Emerging Nurse Leader
This award recognizes an emerging nurse leader who has held a formal leadership position for less than 2 years and has displayed excellent leadership in support of the Kaiser Permanente Nursing Vision and Values.

Excellence in Professional Development
This award recognizes a Registered Nurse who has made significant contributions to the professional development of others through activities such as development and evaluation of formal educational programs, facilitation of role development and practice transitions, and mentoring.

Excellence in Quality and Safety
This award recognizes a Registered Nurse who has made significant contributions in the areas of safety and quality resulting in improved outcomes for Kaiser Permanente patients and members.

Excellence in Research/Evidence-Based Practice
This award recognizes a Registered Nurse who has made significant contributions to expanding and strengthening nursing research and evidence-based practice at Kaiser Permanente.

Friend of Nursing
This award recognizes an individual (non-nurse) or department (non-nursing) who has shown significant support for the nursing profession at Kaiser Permanente and demonstrates effective partnership and collaboration to achieve improved outcomes.
