AONE's Nurse Leader to Watch: Dan Weberg, PhD, RN, MHI, BSN

Dan Weberg is a nurse leader and expert in human-centered patient design and simulation and healthcare innovation with extensive clinical experience in the emergency department, acute in-patient hospital settings, and academia over past 12 years. Dan is an author, scholar, positive deviant and is the Senior Director of Innovation and Leadership for Kaiser Permanente’s National Nursing Leadership and Strategy Team. Dan is also a core team member and a founding Clinical Assistant Professor focused on technology, leadership and inter-professional curriculum for the new Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine

Kaiser Permanente Nurse Takes Top Honor as Distinguished Nurse of the Year

Kaiser Permanente Northwest claimed six of 17 awards — triple the number received by any other regional health care organization — at the June 1 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year recognition event in Portland, Oregon.

The top honor, Distinguished Nurse of the Year, went to Lisa Krening, from Sunnyside Medical Center. This was the second time in the past three years that a Kaiser Permanente nurse took home this prestigious award.

New Book Gives Nursing Students Blueprint for Becoming Leaders

Kaiser Permanente nurse leader and innovation expert Daniel Weberg, PhD, MHI, RN, is lead author in the new title Leadership in Nursing Practice. From the book’s website:

Leadership in Nursing Practice: Changing the Landscape of Healthcare, Third Edition, gives nursing students the opportunity to develop the leadership skill set they will need to succeed in the field. The text acknowledges that not all nurses will be managers, but that all, regardless of career path, will be leaders. Kaiser Permanente Nurses Recognized for Leadership, Advancing Nursing Profession

Kaiser Permanente nurses were recently recognized during an Association of California Nurse Leaders' awards luncheon honoring nurse leaders making a difference. Awards and scholarships were presented to acknowledge accomplishments in nurse leadership, patient care, community outreach and service to the organization. Kaiser Permanente nurses received awards in the following categories:

Cecelia L. Crawford, DNP, RN

Excellence in Clinical Practice Cecelia L. Crawford, DNP, RN, received an excellence award in acknowledgement of her work championing the nursing profession and clinical practice for more than 36 years. A major focus of her work is the evaluation and synthesis of evidence for patient care, clinical practice and health care programs. Cecelia provides leadership and consultation for evidence-based practice and program evaluation to Kaiser Permanente's 15 Southern California medical centers. 2018 ACNL Leadership ScholarshipsTwo Kaiser Permanente nurse leaders were awarded a scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (Executive Leadership) degree at University of San Francisco: Beth Eichenberger, DNP, MPA/HAS, RN, CNML, Director, Maternal Child Health at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. Alexandra Wiggins, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Director, Medical, Surgical and Telemetry Services at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.
