What does “no affiliation error message” mean when logging on to HealthStream?

  • HealthStream is a regional or department purchased system. You will need to have active status to access HealthStream. Please refer to your DESPI or department manager

How do I know if a specific course is available on HealthStream?

What is the difference between KP HealthStream and KP HealthStream Express?

  • KP HealthStream Express is a simplified version of KP HealthSteam with no courses content other than Lippincott Procedure library. KP HealthStream Express has limited functionality.

Where are the Clinical Ladders renewal and application forms located?

  • Northern California - Staff Nurse III and IV, Home Health Hospice Nurse III, and Nurse Practitoner III application and renewal forms are available for download at the NCAL Nursing Pathways website's Workforce section, under Clinical Ladders.
  • Other regions- We have no information regarding similar programs in other regions. If you have information about similar programs, please contact support@kpnursing.org.
New Nursing Employee Programs

Does Kaiser Permanente have New Grad training programs?

  • Northern California - Please visit Nurse Scholars Academy for more information regarding their residency and fellowship program.
  • Southern California - New Grad Training programs are only available to nurses that have already been hired by Kaiser Permanente. Managers hire New Grads (licensed newly graduated from nursing school) and are sent to the Regional New Grad Training by the manager of hire after they go to their local New Employee orientation and Nursing Orientation at their facilities which generally are the first two weeks of hire. The New Grad training is for 10 weeks.
  • Other regions- We have no information regarding similar programs in other regions. You can try contacting a facility in your region and ask for the nurse recruiter. They may have more information for you. If you have information about similar programs, please contact support@kpnursing.org.
Training (ACLS/BLS, Specialty training, etc.)

Does Kaiser Permanente provide ACLS training/classes?

  • Northern California -NCAL does provide training but does not provide/pay for the initial ACLS course. Your local clinical education department may be willing to pay for the class if it is related to a change in the employee position. Otherwise, contact NCTI directly. Charges may apply.
  • Southern California -Similar to all Southern California specialty programs, its restricted to staff who require the training for their current job -- it's not for anyone just interested in taking it & therefore is not open to just any RN. The ICU manager registers the employee directly since the manager pays for the course and concurrent clinical practice.
  • Other regions- We have no information regarding similar programs in other regions. If you have information about similar programs, please contact support@kpnursing.org.

  • Southern California -Specialty classes are restricted to staff who require the training for their current job -- it's not for anyone just interested in taking it & therefore is not open to just any RN.
