Welcome to the National Nursing Workforce Committee

Health care in the U.S. is rapidly changing and evolving, due to disparate forces such as technology, consumerism, shifting disease burdens and increasing provider competition. Kaiser Permanente, as one of the nation’s largest and most integrated health care systems, is leading a transformation within this dynamic landscape – and helping to shape the future of health care itself. We do this by addressing challenges with targeted strategies to meet significant membership growth and demand, and by consistently performing at top quality and safety standards – all within a framework of affordability for patients and members.

Illuminate. Convene. Help Solve.

The mission of the National Nursing Workforce Committee is to advance patient-centered care and excellence in our nursing workforce by supporting the development of talent and workforce strategies that reflect Kaiser Permanente’s nursing model and meet our organizational priorities.
We aim to:

  • Illuminate the issues through insights derived from data collection, analysis and trend evaluation.
  • Convene key stakeholders and leverage our partnerships to bring people, departments and arms of the organization together to inform and integrate workforce efforts across the organization.
  • Help implement solutions by coordinating the implementation of agreed-upon strategies that align, complement and inform existing efforts.

Workstreams

As initially configured, the National Nursing Workforce Committee is engaged in three key workstreams.

The Go-To Resource for Nursing Workforce
Our infrastructure is designed to be the premier source for information and data on the nursing workforce.

Foundational Partnership Activities
We have foundational, core activities that are attended to consistently. These include the collection and analysis of workforce data.

Emergent Partnership Activities
Our partnership also focuses on emergent issues to meet the organization’s time-sensitive and priority workforce needs.
